UNOFFICIAL OULIPO: a weird writing workshop series with spiderweb salon

join spiderweb salon & embrace the endless possibilities of writing within constraints- this workshop is for writers of all levels or even just the writing-curious!

in spiderweb salon’s [unofficial] OuLiPo workshop series, we’ll learn about & emulate the Ouvroir de Littérature Potentielle, a fascinating collective of writers and mathematicians who reject spontaneous chance in favor of systematic constraints in their writing. participants will have a chance to explore new poetic forms and methods and maybe even create their own.

the OuLiPo was founded in the 60s in france & is still active today! they define the term littérature potentielle as (rough translation): "the seeking of new structures and patterns which may be used by writers in any way they enjoy." the group has therefore defined a series of literary methods and documented how they work, so that others can replicate and adapt these constraints, which is what we will be examining during our wonderfully weird writing workshop.
