Wake & Bake: A Toast to Breakfast

Never enough cream.

Never enough cream.

I was recently tickled by a popular meme which depicts a gentleman enthusiastically scrolling for a lasagna recipe...only to be found dead (presumably from starvation) by the time he found said recipe, because the blog was filled with excessive storytelling and superfluous content. Quirky puns and alliteration aside, far be from me to keep you from recipes such as these today. Just picture the Wake & Bake babes twirling in the kitchen and consuming obscene amounts of coffee, while hemming and hawing over Caitlin’s breakfast skills.

I want you to know, dear readers, that I really am fighting the urge to make syrupy, soggy, breakfast puns. I want you to trust me when I say this. It’s quite possibly the most difficult thing I’ve ever had to do--and that includes childbirth. I can’t make any promises, but I give you my solemn vow, that after this, I will try to keep things short and to the toast points. Agh! I’ve waffled on my plans already!

We’ll be feeding you all-things-pastry (read: croissants!!!) in a separate post coming very soon, but for now, I present to you, three decadent, ooey gooey, so-warm-and-buttery-you-wanna-climb-inside-and-take-a-nap recipes that are so tasty, they’ll make your guests say, “Damn! This bitch can cook!”

Picture perfect waffles. For best results, pour melted maple syrup butter all over your piping fresh waffles and devour immediately.

The first recipe is brought to you by our cult lead---errr I mean, favorite baker/all-time babe/pastry goddess Stella Parks, author of BraveTart. Stella is one of our most cherished inspirations. She’s always baking some down to earth, soul-warming, insanely delicious stuff and the browned butter waffles of hers are no exception. These bad boys will make you wanna rekindle old friendships and call your mom.

Storie is always on a roll with the puns over here.

Next up, we’ve got these cute little french toast roll ups that are so easy to make, yet SO delicious, people will be really impressed by you and probably want to take you out on a date or something. The great thing about these little cuties is that you can fill them with just about anything your heart desires: fresh fruit, cream cheese, nutella, peanut butter, cookie butter, oh god my mouth is watering. Also! You can cut them in half to make little bite-sized pieces so they’re perfect for parties, too.

QUIIIIICHE. That is all.

QUIIIIICHE. That is all.

Our last stop on this brunchy tour of eggcellence (sorry I had to squeeze one more in there) is this gorgeous, show stopping quiche. Made with roasted vegetables and a myriad of savory cheeses, this quiche is, without a doubt, the fluffiest, creamiest quiche I’ve ever tasted. Once again, courtney marie and i found ourselves worshipping at the feet of Caitlin with our eyes rolled back in our heads. Hugs and quiches were generously dolled out. Ok I’m done. I swear! Now go eat your breakfast!
