let's create together in 2018 (& beyond!)

spiderweb salon December 5, 2017

greetings friends, fellow artists, & dreamers!

hi there- we hope this finds you surviving & thriving! we're trying to be better about staying connected so we started a newsletter. you can sign up here. we promise to send you things sparingly- say, once or twice a month? tell all your friends! now, first things first:

we have big news!

we may have been quieter than usual these past few months, but it's only because the spiderweb crew has been focused on planning & preparing for really awesome stuff to happen in 2018. there's only one catch: we need you to help us make this year the most creatively wonderful yet.

sounds great! what are we doing? how will we do it?

together! today spiderweb salon is launching a patreon to raise ongoing funding so we can create in a more sustainable and meaningful way. this is BIG! a successful fundraiser on patreon will allow us to:

1) host monthly writing, art, and zine workshops,
2) continue to curate amazing public and private showcases and events,
3) professionally produce, record, and release the work of musicians, performance artists, and poets,
4) celebrate and collaborate with other awesome community organizations,
5) continue production of The Literary Podcast,
6) encourage collaboration and community among artists by hosting meetups and collaborative opportunities,
6) fund and produce large-scale projects (such as plays and books/zines) by artists we believe in,
7) and publish your work: both in our zines and our newly-revived online collection!

wow, YES!

if you aren't yet familiar with it, patreon is an incredible platform for supporting projects like spiderweb salon: it only takes a moment to sign up and it's easy to see what our goals are and how you're contributing! we will be eternally grateful for your donation, as much or as little as you can spare (even if it's nothing- we know not everyone has expendable income and we still love you!), but note that for just $10 a month, you'll have full access to every showcase, every workshop, every publication, and every opportunity that comes our way, and you'll be supporting hundreds of artists in Denton (& beyond!) who are creating and sharing work with one another. check out our goals to read a little bit about what we have in store, become a donor, and/or share widely and wildly to help us make this a reality!

BECOME A PATREON

our eventual goal for 2018 is to file as a nonprofit so we can continue to create quality programming, publications, educational workshops, and opportunities for local artists in the long term. we've been around five and a half years now... it's time to wholeheartedly commit to the things we care about and continue to grow. we hope that you will be a part of this journey in whatever way you see fit!

BOOM! i donated! this is so exciting! what's next?

you rock! this brings us to our first SAVE THE DATE: on january 20, 2018, we'll be hosting our sixth annual WINTER FORMAL at Dan's Silverleaf in Denton, Texas. there'll be more info about that soon; we promise it's going to rock. sometime in january we'll also be putting out a call for performers for our second annual production of spiderweb salon loves you! if you & someone you love have been looking for a good reason to make something beautiful together, this is the perfect excuse to do so. we seriously can't wait to see what you create!

that's all for now, we'll be sure to keep you updated on the success of our patreon campaign and our upcoming showcase on spiderweb's facebook page, if you don't hear from us here first. meanwhile, keep creating, keep loving, keep being awesome.

we support you!

P.S. do you want to work with us? let us know! if you're working on a new project or have something to share, tell us about it! we're always on the lookout for new friends and would be thrilled to work with you and include you in an upcoming event, collaboration, or publication. we're also interested in collaborating with anyone who has workshop ideas or expertise to share with others - our expansion will include honorariums to those willing to teach their skills or run programming through spiderweb salon. email us to get started!
